Knitter mentioned this on another thread and I had never heard of it. So, having looked on YouTube, I found that it is absolutely marvellous! Laughter Yoga groups are apparently springing up all over. Here is a video made by the Doctor who invented it. Enjoy!

they was doing this on tv last night , on a program called the real marigold hotel , its a group of retired celebrities( proper celbs not these 5 min wonders they have on tv now a days ) who have gone to India to see if it would be a good country to move to for your retirement , they was pointing out how cheap it is to live there how good the medical care is there , how you can get a maid and cook to look after you for around £35.00 per month , property is so cheap to rent you cant buy unless you have a Indian on the deeds , they followed some of the indian way of life yogo first thing mornings and some of the complimentary health treatments , they went to a private hospital to all have a full health check cost just over £100.00 here it would have been around £1000 they was all so impressed , jan leaman is thinking of renting there 4 months a year , one is considering having a knee op , a dart player is looking in to living there , very interesting program if you have time look it up on bbc I player there was 3 programs last night was the last one

I don't watch TV, or very seldom, but I did see the film (The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel - 2011). :)

Shame you didn't watch this, as I think you would probably have enjoyed it. It was a 3-part documentary shown over the last three weeks. As Malcolm said, a Laughter Yoga session in the park was covered and it looked great fun. I believe laughing therapy ( apart from yoga) is quite widespread too. Groups of people coming together to dance, laugh and end up lying down in a circle on the floor, still laughing. One of the participants last night said it starts as a mechanical thing but when you see others laughing, making funny faces etc., it becomes spontaneous.

Sounds great !

Oh, I agree that it is a good thing! Seeing others laugh always makes me laugh and I always feel my mood lifting for it. :)

Grr....I missed the episode last night - I was watching the one about the families who are given £26.000 to turn into more money by running a business.

I'll watch it on my computer M. I have enjoyed the other episodes. I remember Bobby George playing darts. He was good.

the one who was in harry potter made me laugh the most she didn't care what she came out with ,

in reply to mmzetor

I have not seen Harry Potter M, but I'll take a guess - you are talking about Miriam Margolis? she is wonderful, like a little happy goblin.

mmzetor profile image
mmzetor in reply to

yes that's the one .I haven't seen harry potter either or read the books dawn took the kids to cinema to see all the films not my kind of thing , have you been watching the other program sugar free farm on itv that was quiet good

in reply to mmzetor

I did see one episode and was desperate for sugar afterwards - and all I had in the tin was a packet of digestives and Merlin's gravy bones, so I tossed up and won.

mmzetor profile image

ha ha lol , this time they went to a pub and one went and talked to the chef to ask what on the menu could they order that contained no sugar there was loads of dishes but only three with no sugar , they couldn't even had a bread roll as that has sugar in , something you don't really think about having sugar in

in reply to mmzetor

No you don't, but if you make bread with sour dough you don't have to put sugar in it so I was told once - I think - or maybe I am making it up :-D :-D

did you watch the Victorian bakers on bbc2 very good if you didn't have a look on I player think you would like it , they put all sorts in there bread so didn't have to use to much flour ,

in reply to mmzetor

No but I can imagine it. Amanda saw it and told me about it. The Millers were not all round, jolly and truthful - they put ground clay and stones and other nasty stuff in with their flour. I said that she enjoyed my baking and yet she didn't know what went into it :-D

Actually, I thought she was quite vulgar, not last night but on the previous two episodes. As if it doesn't matter how many comments you make about toilet matters, as long as you make them with a posh accent.

mmzetor in reply to Billiejean_2

yes she didn't care about what she said wasn't very nice when they was eating breakfast at the time either

Obviously if you're a famous actress you can be as rude as you like :) She was a good sport though and in fairness, I don't know how she survived that journey to the Taj Maghal. She could barely put one foot in front of the other when they got there.

that made me laugh too how the healthier ones went and got a car and the worse ones health wise went by train , aren't them trains something when they showed the pic of them two trains passing and you looked up the line and couldn't see the end of it I wonder how long they are ,

Billiejean_2 profile image
Billiejean_2 in reply to mmzetor

It was hilarious. That woman who runs the cookery school, trying to get up on the top bunk :) I'm surprised they didn't all get heart attacks. But they were game for anything. I'd say the trains are almost a mile long and still stuffed to the gills.

mmzetor profile image
mmzetor in reply to Billiejean_2

I watched a different program about their trains a few months ago and the morning trains taking people to work were full so they was sitting on the roof of the carriages some holding on the sides some standing on the bits that they join the carriages together it was horrendous really they said there is often some one fall off badly hurt or die but nothing is done about it they just see it as part of normal everyday life ,

I liked it, partly because it was different and partly because laughter does always raise the mood.

Thanks toci....it's a bit like yawning.....laughing can be catching .

I have been to two laughter yoga sessions, in the beginning you have to force yourself to laugh...it seems very un natural and then you end up laughing for real.

But a warning, sadly, laughing can trigger a breathless attack . So be careful....we all had a giggle at my art class, and one of the women ended up coughing all night. Pesky lungs.....even laughing comes with a Health and Safety warning.

It's advice I have given to others - laugh about it and then you will find you actually can. :)

Love it Toci - Nothing like a good laugh, and you can do this on your own . I have one neighbour who laughs with me all the time over silly things. I have another lovely neighbour who is in goodish health but rarely laughs out loud, so I think it is just how you are :-)

I shall certainly share this with my daughter. I was telling her recently about a radio programme ITMA (It's That Man Again) from a long time ago, and there was a lady in it (Mona Lott) who used to say "It's being so cheerful as keeps me going"

Thankyou for your post and for bringing memories.
