I'm absolutely gutted two years infection free and now I've have one. I know Azithromycin aren't full proof but I've done so well. I've had a different brand this time does it make a difference or am I being silly.

Do you mean you had the non-branded/generic one Kim as opposed to the one you usually get in the red and white box ? They both have exactly the same ingredients but the generic one is cheaper because it's not carrying a big drug company's name. When I was changed to generic Azithro, I felt they were rougher on my stomach as there was not a very fine/ smooth coating on them but now I've got used to them. I've been taking them daily for almost three years and feel at this stage that they do nothing to prevent infections for me. Maybe it's time to change to Doxy or something else ? Anyhow, I hope you get over the infection quickly.

Yeah normally have Mylan brand but now I have the red and white one. I'm probably being silly.

Let's hope it won't be a really bad one due to the Azith you've been taking.

Generic's are supposed to be the same but have heard others say they don't find them as effective in some cases. Not the specific one you are on but generics in general.

Hi Kim, don't think brand matters as long as it works. Don't be too sad about the infection, I have gone for a long time like you and am now on the second infection in three months. Think this one is just a bad chesty cold fingers crossed it does not get worse and effect my lungs. Hope you feel better soon, stay warm and take care x

I know its a bummer Kim but think of it this way - it may well be another two years til you get another infection. You've done so well. Hope it clears up soon. Take care.

Same thing happened to me Kimmy ( although I was not lucky enough to get 2 years) It never did get as good as it was when I first started Azi, but it is still better than before I took it at all . Its so disappointing I know, but I just feel glad I get some slight more distance between my excerabations

Hope you get a longer break next time

Hi Kimmy,

I know how you feel the first time I had a infection after starting Azith I did not cope very well and felt oh so low but I have only had to have a different antibiotic twice now in 15 months which is much better than an infection every 6 weeks and the best thing no preds. for 15 months.

Hope you start picking up soon.
