Sleep Study Test

On Thursday I underwent a Sleep Study Test at Harefield Hospital. I stayed overnight in a small private room. All it seems to involve is monitoring sat levels overnight. I was just attached to a monitor via a ear clip. I have insomnia (probably connected to my severe COPD) so I only slept for a couple of hours. I use 1/2 litre of oxygen for min 15 hours but my sats were low So the nurse increased it to 1 litre, explaining that sometimes the hospital oxygen machines were not always accurate: Very encouraging. Just wanted to know if anyone has experienced such a test and possible outcomes?

Hope everyone is keeping well?

Regards

Malinka

My 14yr old son, who has learning difficulties, had a sleep test last week. He has reduced lung function due to severe scoliosis. He is on half litre of O2 overnight as his sats drop when he is sleeping. He had a band round his stomach and one round his chest, an ear clip, one on his toe and his finger. There was also a video on him. He slept. I didn't as I had to stay with him. Should get results on Thursday. A home sats monitor provided by district nurse shows sats are ok on o2

Hi Jean

Thanks for your response. Sounds like your son had a more in depth sleep study test. Maybe it is because he is young and has other health issues. Hope everything goes?

Once again, thanks for getting in touch.
