Evening everyone.

My doctor has prescribed Mucodyne syrup, I tried the capsules but they made me physically sick so he thought we might try this see if it makes a difference. Anyone tried it before.

Perhaps get in touch with your pulmonary nurse or get your GP to refer you to one. She would show you the different coughing up methods which are so important to get rid of mucus, which when stagnating gets infected with bacteria. The pulmonary nurse would also refer you to a physiotherapist who would do clapping of your chest, and show you the several methods of coughing up.

Very recently, I bought a Flutter Device to help me get rid of mucus. It seems to work for me. Hope this helps a bit.

I was given it in Spain, long before it was available in UK the result was brilliant, so much relief. . When I got back to UK I asked my GP about it and was told that it was not readily available and second because I had had an ulcer in the past it would not be suitable for me to ever take. By then I had already used my two bottles from Spain without any ill effects and a vast improvement in shifting the rubbish.

Then we moved homes, new health centre, new doctor " you ought to try carbocisteine" he said. So for the last couple of years I have been taking three lots of two per day, the Consultant has dropped it to one three times a day in the last few weeks without any change in what I produce. All I can say is give it a try, and see if your body settles down with it, the benefits outdo the side effects.

Thanks for the reply, my GP said its a lot more expensive than the capsules but he doesn't care as long as it helps me. We're trying it because I've had three infections since I had Pneumonia in June, and he said I need to try and move the mucus because it sits there in my tubes breeding bacteria. I really hope it works as well as I did for you.
