Bladder pain and food choices for IC

Does anyone have a basic list of the main dos/don’t s regarding food and drink choices for triggering IC symptoms? Some info seems to contradict others eg: are apples/ pears ok or not? I’m struggling to maintain a healthy intake of fruit that doesn’t irritate my bladder.

I have had IC for over 30 years. Diet does help but my urologist recommended a supplement called Uqora. It has literally changed my life. I’m not sure if it is available in the UK. Hopefully yes. I take 2 pills a day and my symptoms are under control. I was having bladder installations every 2 months for pain. It has now been 5 months with no pain at all since I’ve been taking Uqora. Hope this helps. I take the “Control” supplement of Uqora.

Thanks so much. I go for my op on 10th so I’ll see what they say after the cystoscopy. I’m hoping they’ll be able to set me on the right pathway. I’ve tried DMannose. It helped a little. I do take acidophilus and aloe Vera tablets daily. I’ll Google uqora and see how I might get it in the uk. 👍

I would stop the acidophilus. Notice the first 4 letters. I couldn’t even eat yogurt due to the acidophilus. As far as fruits go, apples, pears, blueberries, bananas and watermelon never bothered me. Good luck! I hope you are able to get Uqora!

Just on the subject of acidophilus, I was recommended to take a capsule daily to counteract the effects of many courses of ( ineffective) antibiotics for recurrent bladder pain. IC sufferers seem to be split on its use. For some it’s essential after contracting regular yeast infections because of the antibiotics. It cultivates good bacteria and for my niece, has helped rectify regular hospitalisation caused by water infections. For others it irritates their bladder more. I was extremely concerned about the effects of regular antibiotics that did nothing to help my symptoms but we’re wiping me out. It was all the doctors seemed to have at their disposal yet it did no good. I used to suffer from terrible acid reflux but after acidophilus tablets and diet modification for potential IC, this is now virtually non existent. 🤞
