Expexted average time line from heart Dr’s consultation to Surgery

The_stormfisherman profile image

Hi all

I had my last hospital appointment with the the heart Doc back at beginning of February where he told me that I will need a pacemaker fitted how long on average will it be before I will have the surgery. There is also a need to get this done sooner rather than later as I can’t have the back surgery until it is done the doc is aware?

you should be able to find waiting times for your local area within the NHS website or app by inputting “waiting times” and following the links.

It is a bit of a post code lottery along with clinical urgency. I had an angiogram, 4 weeks later saw cardio surgeon and 7 weeks later underwent surgery in Southampton.

you need to speak to your consultant’s scheduler. They control his work list. Sometimes it’s his secretary but they will give you the contact if not. Then explain how urgent it is and they will arrange a date.

hi all

Thank you for all the info I am going to wait until after My initial appointment with the back surgeon next week. As they will have a better handle and experience of this type of situation and see what they also suggest.
