GTN spray, lingering effects?

hi everyone.

I had a tilt table test today and was diagnosed with orthostatic hypotension type 3. Apparently I was supposed to last 20 minutes but only lasted 3 after the GTN spray was administered 🫠

the test was at 9am and spray administered around 9:45. I feel okay but I’ve still got a huge headache even after paracetamol and a short nap. I’m nauseous and my lower limbs still feel heavy. I know the spray is short acting (20 minutes before wearing off) but do/can the effects linger?

I have eaten but not my usual amount because of the nausea :(

thanks in advance!

I did get bad headaches and slept after using GTN spray, They were more severe the more it was used, and always last quite a few hours. My body seems to have habituated, and now I get very little headache, after using it.

It is common to get a headache afte GTN because it opens up your arteries which increases the blood flow - this can cause a bad headache - in most people it passes quickly but not in everyone

If it persists you could call 111 for advice or ask a pharmacist if you can get to one
