Has anyone taken weight loss medication alongside Forxiga

I've been taking Forxiga since August 2024, along with a broader cocktail of medicines following my initial diagnosis of A-fib. I've tried to order Wegovy on-line, but the company won't dispense due to the ongoing Forxiga medication.

It isn't for diabetes in this instance.

I’d very much urge you to discuss with a health professional. The best would be the pharmacist employed by your doctors group of surgeries, or your dispensing pharmacist. Otherwise your GP.

The online provider is being deliberately cautious, and with good reason. It is tough knowing that there are medications out there on the off the shelf marketplaces that might speed up weight loss but which you can't access - however the supplier is right. Your main doctor is the one to decide if your condition and current drugs are compatible with weight loss drugs like Wegovy - the problem is that the NHS don't appear to even want to have the conversations about providing private scrips for drugs that aren't within the NICE guidelines or which CCGs won't fund.

I tend to agree with your comments. I do intend to speak with him and my Cardiologist before I go any further. I believe there are other options out there that don't have the same interactions with Forxiga (having had a good Google). I'm currently on a calorie deficit diet, but a helping hand would be useful, especially as it all helps alleviate the work the heart has to do.

The cardiologist changed my metformin to forxiga two weeks ago in order to also help with my breathlessness which is getting worse.I was expecting to experience breathlessness getting better but haven't noticed anything yet sadly. I've no idea how long it takes.

I'm currently on Forxiga and am taking semaglutide tablets to get my weight down and I'm happy on them and have lost 4.5 stone since last August. I feel better and my heart feels stronger. I've had no bad side effects apart from the first week when it was a bit hit and miss getting out due to needing to be near a loo! I think if you were diabetic it would be a different story but I'm not diabetic just needed to lose a chunk of weight to give my heart a break x
