hi all has anyone experienced a numb hand / finger? I had a suspected HA on 4th Dec 2024 I’m still waiting for the cardiac MRI results, most mornings when I wake up my right hand is numb, after a minute or so it retro normal but I have also started experiencing my index finger on my right hand feels numb sometimes.obviously because it’s my right I’m just making my own diagnosis that it’s heart related.

Numb hand and finger

I had this many years ago and after a couple of osteopath manipulations visits it went. Sometimes it comes back so I see a physio privately.
It is normally the left arm that is affected. Hope you get it all sorted
Hi Cookie. I had an MI 5 years ago with 7 stents. Since Christmas I've had a similar thing to you with my left little finger gradually moving up my hand & much reduced grip between thumb & fore finger. After managing to persuade the receptionist to let me see my GP, she diagnosed nerve impingement. I'm booked for an X-ray on my elbow as it's worse if my arm is bent & a visit to the muscular skeletal physio. As I can reduce the symptoms by straightening my arm, I didn't think it was cardiac related
I have a thumb which is numb even until lunch some days. No pain but hard to for example to message on my mobile phone.I've rightly or wrongly put it down to lack of blood flow, up until now. When I straighten up my thumb this seems to work. But it can very quickly, return.
Thank you for bringing this up as I will now mention this at my next appointment with my GP now.
Hi, might be a wrong path, but I was put on bisoprolol and it was a huge trigger for my raynaud's syndrome. If you had a tendency towards it could be your answer. Don't know how you would take it forward. I was changed to a different drug and much improved.
I often wake with a numb hand or with fingers tingling. It's a trapped nerve in my shoulder thanks to arthritis.
Left sided numbness or pain is more related to cardiovascular issues , although depending on which cardiac conditions you have or medication you are on you can have slower circulation in the extremities that can cause numbness on either side when your arm is inactive. Are you on any medications yet? Which side do you sleep on at night?
That can cause early morning numbness either because you lean on that side , or if your hand hangs down while you lean on the other side reducing circulation to the fingers.
It may also not be heart related at all.
As has been suggested , Carpal tunnel can cause numbness, but so can a trapped nerve in your shoulder or neck which does not always cause other pain but causes numb fingers or tingling. My husband had that issue last year.
It would be worth speaking to your GP to get checked for a trapped nerve or frozen shoulder etc.
You could also contact your local Cardiology Department at this point to chase up the results from your MRI,
Take care , Bee
