I have a Bijemeny heart beat and it can go down to 32 beats a minute. Have had all the scans etc, and I have a monitor fitted. They say not life threatening but it is not pleasant to live with as soon as I stop and sit down I get the symptoms.does anyone else have this problem.

Yes, I get this a lot too. I'm sorry you're going through this, it is a pretty unpleasant experience. Does it only affect you when you are resting? Mine seems to happen when I'm trying to do things. I don't know if there are treatment options available to you. It can be a difficult thing to weigh up the pros and cons. I take medication at the moment but not sure it helps much.

what medication do you take.

I take a small dose of flecainide. Normally you'd take it with a beta blocker, but with slow heart already that wasn't recommended

Is this for a fast heartbeat.

hi

Am the same. I’ve taken the Dr s advice to an extent and try to get a good walk in once or twice a week which can be hard at this time of year and my bad knee

I also try to lay down in bad episodes and relax. That seems to help.

Additionally i noticed that chocolate is a definite trigger for me so have cut that and my wine.

I think if the beats are affecting you more than 10% of the time and are affect you - ablation is considered?

Good luck.

I had this , and after a week of ecg monitor had a pacemaker fitted. I don't feel well yet but it's definitely reduced the irregular beats, and prevents any slow heart rate.

hi, can I ask what your pacemaker is set at, does it help with bigeminy.

I've just had OHS valve/ aorta repair, was told that this was causing my bigeminy, had pacemaker still suffering, hoping tweeking of pacemaker may help, fingers crossed.

My irregular beats were mainly coming from the atria and the two lead pacemaker seems to control these. It's set at 70 bpm during the day and 60 at night. And I also take bisoprolol 1.25mg

didn't realise you could set pacemaker to set night time & morning settings. Do you feel comfortable with these settings.

My cardiologist set me at 70 bpm but then we agreed lower at night might help with sleeping.

Hi,

I have bigeminy and trigeminy. My cardiologist said I should cut out caffeine including chocolate which I did in May last year. I also walk most days and I take Diltiazem slow release, which has been working well and I can usually do everything I want to do, but recently I have been having more and more episodes.

Sometimes it's just the noticeable thud of my heartbeat, but last week I had all the symptoms - fatigue, tight chest, strange lump in my throat etc. I rested and took ECGs on my Kardia and emailed them to the cardiologist with a description of how I felt at the time, and I'm waiting to hopefully get a response as I have felt tired ever since.

When I was on betablockers my heart rate was going below 40 they said it was too low so took me off them

I have Bigeminy alongside other heart issues. Your heart rate is not going down it's that the Bigeminy beats are not counted so makes your heart rate look lower. What is your normal heart rate ?

I cut out caffeine and my symptoms subsided. Not sure if will work for you but a simple thing to try. Watch out for the 3 weeks headache!

Don’t drink much coffee, mainly tea.
