As Moreton Cross points out it can mean Distinguished Conduct Medal, but it can also mean:

DiChloroMethane

Digital Cinema Mode

Degenerative Cervical Myelopathy

..... and many other meanings, as you can see from this list acronymfinder.com/DCM.html - this is why it is important to use the full term, followed by the initials in brackets (FBTIIB) at least the first time it is used in any communication

Context is usually helpful, so in this group it usually means Dilated CardioMyopathy, as Milkfairy pointed out.

As Milkfairy says - it is short for Dilated CardioMyopathy.

If you have been diagnosed with it then the good news is that it is very treatable.

Certainly do not believe anything that Dr Google has to say about it.

I was diagnosed with it over 12 years ago - all I will say about that time is that I was very poorly.

But on Boxing Day (just gone) I walked up the famous Gold Hill in North Dorset (see picture) without any problem. And I am sure that not many 77 year olds (with or without heart problems) would be able to say that.

I take 7 pills a day and they work.

As a child I remember Lenny Henry (TIZWAS) eating DCM (De Condensed Milk) sandwiches.

I now know DCM as Dilated Cardiomyopathy.
