I had a cardiac arrest three years ago in January, I was fitted with a Icd , in April of that year I had what they called a vt storm 21 shocks in one day , it would appear the Icd was not recognising the down beats and had to be adjusted, I was given amiodarone on that day to calm it down .but then put on mexiletine which apparently makes the heart less sensitive to the electrical activity, as they said I have scar tissue from twelve years previously when I had stents fitted , due to a blockage in the artery. The only side affects I’ve had are heartburn if I don’t swallow enough water with the tablets. I’m so glad I’m not on amiodarone , reading all the comments about it .

Hello. I have been on amioderine amfseveral j years now for a fib it works very well but beware use short term only... I ve had swallowing issues for couple years now and recently started having severe back side shoulder pain. After having a series of test including nuclear medicine and several CT scans. I discovered lung damage both lungs and thyroiditis. Both of which are Classic Amioderone side effects. Use short term and get an Ablation.. JC
