I'm having some issues with my heart rate ,I struggled for a long time with it being too high so was taking 5mg bisoprolol . The last few days my heart rate has become quite low for me ,52 sitting up at rest . Asked gp could I lower the dose ,she agreed but I feel awful

I don't know how this relates to your situation but my resting heart rate is low to mid 50s, and can drop to low to mid 40s when I am in deep sleep. But I don't take any meds that cause that. When I asked my GP about that he said don't be concerned about it, it's fine.

I usually have the other kind of problem but it's went the other way a few days ago & is feeling a bit irregular too , was with my gp this morning but it was fine at that point . If I even attempt to lay down it gets worse ,I was awake until 5.30am this morning, but she changed my statin at least

My heart rate can be in the 40s at rest and it’s ok. My average at night while sleeping is 53. My doctors have said they aren’t worried as I have no symptoms. You don’t need your heart pumping hard when resting or sleeping. If you are lightheaded or pass out due it being low, then you should worry.

there’s a long post about this, go to the post entitled “BetaBlockers” a few posts down and you might find helpful information there.

Blessings, please ask your doctor about taking Magnesium Glycinate supplements, most of us are magnesium deficiency which causes high heart rate, high blood pressure and other issues.

‘Most of us’?! Try about 10-15% of the population with most of them being in the older age category. And of that group only 20-30% will have any impact from their magnesium deficiency on their cardiac health. You shouldn’t make such sweeping statements.

Hi Helly … it’s ironic I am slowly (on docs advice) lowering my dosage as not had AF since Feb… and am free at the moment .. so reducing in stages .. but undergoing many checks etc as I go along the process… hope this helps .. if I can help further?

It's been a bit weird ,was always too high then suddenly the opposite ,spoke to gp yesterday so back to original dose ,3.75 am & 2.5 pm but heart rate was still too low ,only had 2.5 today ,no idea what's going on

Hi again … try not to worry as I too am going through the same ..my resting heart rate is 45 .. and like you have the doc reduce my meds to the same level as you ..still it stays the same. To be fair to my doc she is regularly checking thro ECG results I am having . Also tomorrow (Wed) am going for a CT scan .. then another test due soon for angina ( I don’t have this?? ). It’s uncanny you are going through the same worry and reduction on your medication.. happy to walk with you through our similar journey.
