Statseal dressing.

It's 24 hrs after angiogram and ok to remove the statseal dressing. Seems a bit difficult. Wish they had shaved my wrist.

Any tips?

If I just leave it will it just come away after a while?

Yes it did. Got there about 8.25am. They do the "angiograms" first they told me and I was first up.There was a nice atmosphere in there too. Everyone friendly. The cardiologist and radiographer doing procedure came for a short chat. I did opt to have the sedation.

They the usual stuff before. BP ,pulse. Took some blood. Put in a canula.

No one allowed to come in with you.

My procedure started about 9.45am ish.

Walked to the table you lay down on. There is a pillow.

I felt relatively comfortable and relaxed. Must've been the sedation as I was very very apprehensive about it. I'm pretty sure they sensed that.

The cardiologist told me when he was putting something in my wrist. No pain whatsoever.

Didn't really feel anything after that.

Some sort of xray thing hovers above but I did not find it intrusive.

In fact I was taken by surprise when a nurse came and told me it was all over.

The radiographer (maroon uniform) spoke to me whilst I was still on table and mentioned no real blockages as such were found and anything thst was there will be sorted by medication I'm taking. Apixaban and simvestatin.

I was helped off the table and actually walked back to the large armchair. Procedure took about 25 mins or so. Wasn't long.

During time in armchair BP etc is monitored regularly. You'll get a cup of tea and biscuits.

Cardiologist came for a quick chat to explain what happens next.

With me all results go to the Cardiff TAVI "team" for them to discuss when, where etc TAVI will be.

I probably left about 10.30am. My wife and daughter met me outside.

So I'm into another waiting mode but so pleased this procedure is over.

They're near-impossible to get off. (And they did shave my wrist.)

I persevered and finally got it off, but I'd also be interested if you can just leave it there longer and if it gets any easier to get off?

The white pad is still in place. Just trying to be careful now. So worried not to remove the scab. What is under that white pad? Is there anything else?

Nothing under the white pad (at least on mine). There was no scab on my skin either, just a small red spot.

How long did you leave that white pad on before attempting to take it off?

I had angioplasty, same procedure but two stents inserted. Mine took two hours and I ended up with the grandaddy of all bruises. I christened it my tribal tattoo. You can see where the statseal was that is supposed to prevent bruising and bleeding.

For other reasons I ended up, three weeks later, with AVR and CABG. I’m fit as a butchers dog now and pleased with my new lifestyle. Very grateful to all at Papworth for their ministrations whilst I was there.

My arm looked like that too after second angiogram.Wrist to elbow. I assumed they removed the pressure bandage too soon.

if you are having trouble because of tha adhesive on the dressing baby oil usually works - gently rub in on round the edges and ease it off as you rub more in, or if the dressing will absorb it rib it onto the the dressing from the outer edges, let in soak in and it should lift offbaby oil is also helpful at getting other adhesive dressings off gently

I left mine on until it came off on its own. Started slowly peeling off in a couple of days and came off completely on day 5

I never even had a dressing.

I was told to keep mine on for 2 days. Whipped it off in the shower. No problem at all. Was more surprised how tiny the entry holes were

Got mine off now. I was advised to take off after 24hrs as it needed the air to get to it to help form a scab.Yes surprised how small the entry hole was.
