My husband had a triple heart bypass 10 weeks ago and his blood pressure today reads 150/75. I was just wondering if anyone else has experienced this. The doctor has increased his Ramipril but this is a concern because it can affect the kidneys. Thank you.

High blood pressure after triple heart bypass
Helli! Whilst high I would not say it was overly so and the higher one ideally needs to be around 20 units lower. I sm.puzzled by your comment though as my GP prescribed Ramaoril when I was overweight and prediabetic as ACE inhibitors like Ramapril helplessly the kidneys. I assume he has minimised salt I take and is eating healthily?
That's not very high. If there are no symptoms (such as headaches etc) there isn't really a problem. It might be a little 'blip'.
But if you're concerned you should speak to your GP.
This was exactly the same BP for me! I thought it would never go lower no matter what I did. But with my meds and plenty effort it is now 120s/70s. I have actually stopped my actual BP medication (with pharmacist/GP advice) to prevent it going down further. The other meds are doing the lowering for me!
I was on perindopril for years, never really did the trick. Then after my stents this continued with other meds, blood thinners statins etc. Then I had another spell of angina (4 weeks) back for short stay in hospital. Several tests later, cardiologist started me on Bisoprolol, things really changed then.
What meds are you on apart from ACE inhibitor. Remember also that it will take recovery time for your body and meds to settle, this might result in some BP lowering also.
