I have an annual device check, I have had mine for 4 years now and I am.monitored remotely. They usually hold a paddle over my device and down load. They check it's is picking up what it should and any shocks it has delivered. They check my scar and the position of my device. I have an s-icd so it it below my arm pit if that makes sense. They check the he battery life.of my device. Hope that helps! It's non invasive and painless!!

Hi I've had my icd 4years now and get a remote check after 6 month then a hospital check after the next 6 months just an ecg and loop put over the device to do any adjustments nothing at all to worry about and they can measure the battery life left in the icd

Hi, I recently had an ICD fitted at Papworth, although still have a 5 year old pacemaker in situ awaiting removal. My first check after fitting of the ICD was in person with electrodes placed on my arms and chest. The technician then speeded up the device and slowed it down to test it..Bit like an MOT. I'm 74 and had this fitted following a cardiac arrest on return from holiday.. Really no pain so I'm sure you'll be fine , but always ask if you've any questions. Good luck 🤞

Here in the US we go into clinic once a year for a pacer check and the rest are done remotely every 3 months. They put a wand in front of my pacer and record to see if any arrythmias have occurred, and they also can make your heart beat faster with the wand to check and make sure it is working properly. I dont realy care for that part because I can feel it in my throat, but thankfully it only last about a minute. No pain and only takes about 15 minutes.
