Chest pain

I had a stent fitted 3 weeks ago and started gentle cycling 2 weeks. I am a keen cyclist and would like to know how long it will take to full recovery?

Also is very slight chest pain normal after stent installation procedure and how long does that typically last? I am 3 weeks in and just started feeling this slight pain?

Is this ‘normal’?

Hi since joining up to this forum you learn quite quickly what ever procedure you have had everyone recovers at a different pace. Listen to your body it's very clever it will speak to you. I had 3 stents in 2020 and if I over do it, I know. You have to learn to be a Patient ... Patient. Take care ❤

there was a post very similar to yours by a golfer within the last day or so - scroll through these posts and find it and the very helpful reply that Lowerfield has made.

Just go down the page and look at the name of the person who posted. In your case it was Garfytxxx. The one I was recommending was Golfer. Sorry sorry I didn't say who the poster was!! So how could you find it! My apologies,

You should have been advised to give the stents time to bed in before starting any strenuous exercise

Hold your horses mate! You have just become a member and joined the hearties group. I hasten to say through no choice of your own! We are now a new species amongst the human race.

Following my stents I was signed of work for at least a month, I would say of average fitness, I thought I would be back to normal in 6 months time. After another 4weeks of cardiac rehab and with 10-15 minutes daily walks, I went back to work on aphased back to work basis i.e. alternate half days for starters.

During my return to work, I had to undergoe the companies assessment program. The doctor assessed me and to my shock and horror, I could not lift "normal weight", in fact he said I was not to lift more than 5kg, @work I'm banned from lifting altogether! Also my recovery time was at least a year!

Since then I've been back to full-time work, been abroad for holiday and finally hit winter (november). This was the worst time since my stents. After several medicine changes I am now feeling a little more settled, but scared to face winter again?

Thanks for your reply.

I am a ‘high level’ cyclist and I am getting different advice on when I can return to cycling. The info out there is so mixed it’s ridiculous. My cardiologist is so conservative I don’t think she’d ever let me ride again! I’ve been on three steady rides over the last week and kept a keen eye not to go above Zone 2 exertion. Seems to be working at the moment but still very confused!!!! 😕

So I started to get severe chest pains 6 months after my stents! After short stay in hospital and several tests later, I was diagnosed with AF. Shortly afterwards I was to have a meeting with cardiologist. I wanted to ask him about exercise, this was not even a consideration and my question remained unanswered. I was too unwell to be thinking about exercise!

You see, we are at odds with the doctors, whilst we are thinking about improving our health , they are thinking of our survival only-with the least intervention! In their eyes we are simply broken.
