Critical illness insurance refusal

Has anyone had any experience with critical illness insurance being refused? I have paid for a policy for 15 years and after my open heart surgery made my claim, only for Legal and General to say I didn’t have the ‘right kind of heart surgery’.

I want to appeal or maybe even get legal advice, but if anyone has any tips/advice/recommendations I’m all ears!

Have you tried shopping about ? I had a policy once loaded due to a genetic condition. I thought I would try someone else and they came back with better cover and no loading.

Sorry to hear that your claim has been refused, my claim took time but was accepted. It is all down to what is listed in the terms and conditions, as it will not cover everything. I had a heart attack, stents and a bypass op. It was the bypass that really opened the door for full acceptance.

Find your documents for the policy and hopefully it will explain what is actually covered.
