My Longevity after a Triple Bypass.

My reason for my existence for so long after my op I feel was due to me never having a heart attack.

I was fantastically fit involved in many sports and only got mild angina when at the extremes of exercising.Caught very early l was very young to 30 years of age. Still rather scary setting out on my first intrepid walks down the road and that point in time with no mobile phones to ring for help.SCARY. Obviously my problem was caused by an inherited cholesterol problem deposits in my ankles, on the back of my hands and arcing in the eyes.(Look out for this one it is a clear sign of high cholesterol).Tests much later after op. showed that this had reversed E.g. ankles and hands cleared although never get rid of arcing in eyes.

Of course my medication must play a great part in my survival. When I first spoke to the great Surgeon Mr Parker he told me I would never be clear of the problem. Initially with drugs and diet drove my cholesterol level down to 5 but still needed to watch bad cholesterol in relation to good cholesterol.

Slowly worked my way back up to a good fitness level, also have learnt since your blocked arteries never completely block so from my point of view maybe extra flow!Stuff I get upto now at 78 incredible. Mainly two toughish sessions of walking football a week my knees are feeling that. Now playing a little golf.On my racer can go up a steepish hill no stopping and no chest pain.

TRUTH IS PROBLEM FOUND EARLY AND REMEDIED.NOW DOING THINGS AT ONE POINT NEVER THOUGHT I WOULD DO AGAIN.

Good morning everyone I have been following all of your progress regularly since my husband ended up having a triple heart bypass in December of last year.

As many others have said, he also was fit active et cetera so a complete shock to him and everyone around him.

Unfortunately it has definitely changed me and I can’t see me ever relaxing.

I get a lot of comfort out of following you all on this forum m, so thank you for that each and everyone of you that’s contributed I must have read everyone’s posts.

I think I am beginning to get OCD on the matter!!

I have to say he has done exceptionally well and he’s not worried at all at all.

Me on the other hand reads and dissect everything that I can get my hands on.

He has had a few ups and downs with his medication and they are just trying him on a new statin and ezetimbe.

His liver enzymes were elevated to high numbers on previous medication, I just wondered as you have lived the longest of anybody with these heart problems what medication you are actually on if you wouldn’t mind I’d be very interested.

Thank you in advance.

How amazing. Very early days for us, my boyfriend 51 had heart bypass surgery 3 weeks ago, his was also an elective surgery due to mild angina, didn't really have any symptoms but tests showed severley blocked arteries. 3 weeks in and he's doing great.

Great to read your amazing story.
