Hi Spurs39,

I would give your doctor or the cardiologist team that dealt with your HA a call to discuss these palpitations , you Probaly have already but keep at it.

Do they only occur when you are walking or are they bought on by any physical activities?

Are you alone when you walk or do you sometimes have people or a person with you?

We're you physically active and relatively fit before the heart attack ?

I'm trying to ask if it could be anxiety driven or maybe you are over exerting yourself?

I only had palpitations after my heart attack when i first went for a walk or started excericse, i put it down to anxiety as they never returned after.

hope you get to the bottom of it.

Hi,yes fit and well never smoked.Already had a couple of dosage increases from my doctors.Still only on 5mg so relatively small dose just slightly annoying that I'm not where I thought I'd be fitness wise.Only seems to happen when I start out on my walk.My cardio nurse says to keep going back to the doctors if not happy so will do.Anxiety is a new one for me so maybe it could also be that as well as still trying to come to terms with what happened to me and why..will give it a few more weeks then back to docs. Thanks for taking the time to reply, appreciate that...I'm new to this site as well.

understood Spurs39, do keep bugging the doctors, like I said I found anxiety the one to beat but once I did cardio rehabilitation and got back to lifting weights, rowing, etc it all melted away.

wishing you the best in your recovery journey

I understand your anguish! Quite a cocktail of meds also. When I started on Bisoprolol I had a "heart to heart" chat with the pharmacist. I asked him how it would affect my BP? He said it would lower both BP and HR! We agreed, with his consent to stop my other BP medication in the beginning as it might go too low. So far Ihave a reduced BP and have stopped the BP medication. How is your BP?

The Bisoprolol was started on me, 1.25mg/day and has stayed the same ever since (4 months now), it was for mainly for angina and some AF, almost the same as yourself still get some flutters now and then. I have read about AF going onto worser cases, leading onto more flutters which then need ablation therapy.

Hello spur39, mine started at 1.25mg twice a day now I’m on 8.75mg twice a day. The most you can have is 10 mg twice a day.

Start off slow with walks and build up gradual, I walk one day and usually rest the next, I over did it at first because I’d been inactive for quite a while after heart attack last October had 3 stents fitted.

Just been to hospital Friday night again they’ve referred me back to cardiology as heart rate blood pressure was high and pressure on chest and fluttering spasms, not very nice at all couldn’t get no comfort which makes me angry and frightened.

Keep your doctor informed as to how you feel as youl probably need referring back to cardiology. It’s all the fine tuning with the medication that makes the difference but your body will adjust every time so it takes a while to get where you feel more comfortable.

Not what you're looking for?
