I seemed to have been diagnosed with myocarditis with reduced ejection fraction. 30% LV and 40% RV. I've had an mri and multiple ultrasound scans. I'm a never and non smoker. Non drinker and life long sportsman. Not overweight. If anything a little underweight.
I'm 52 and this diagnosis has come as a shock to me. I've never had anything as serious as this. All this got diagnosed about 1 month and I am starting my recovery now. I'm on bisoprolol. Ramipril. Ethernerum. Toresemid. Forxiga.
I'm being well looked after by the doctors. My immense gratitude goes to the nurses who looked after me in hospital. I live I continental Europe. What's strange is even with these EF numbers I managed to do a fitness body pump class 1 week before diagnosis. I have no out of breathness. No leg swelling. I feel I could go for a run but obviously I'm resting for now. I'm eating an excellent diet.
Doctors asked me if I'd had a cold or flu recently. No. But 3 months earlier I'd had tiredness to the point of feeling burnt out. 6 months earlier I'd had an ear infection with 5 different nasty bacterias.
I'm determined to get better. The only reason I went to the doctor originally was for a diving medical. They were not happy with my heart beat. I'm also wearing a life vest.
