how does one get a face to face doctors appointment that is NOT an emergency. Last week I had a call booked Monday am very early she rang me I discussed my bisoprolol and problems with it she asked me to come in there and then. Was asked tondo blood pressure readings twice a day for a week then come back to me face to face. I thought I would pop in this morning early to book it as I live a few doors away. Told. Ring up. It’s not an emergency appointment though. Really frustrating she said we don’t do them as it forms Queues. Never heard of that one before. Anyway came back home and booked a call online with her next Monday she will probably ask me down again. You can book for a nurse not a doctor. Sorry just venting a little. My surgery are usually pretty good why can’t things go back to where they were before pandemic

It's extremely frustrating isn't it when you feel you aren't being listened to and getting what you need!

my surgery it’s standard practice - you have to ring up. You could be down the corridor where they can’t see you as long as you phone. I’ve found when I’ve requested face to face I’ve been given it but sometimes I just want to discuss something so phone is ok.

It’s frustrating but I get what they mean about queuing. Tbh with my angina I’d rather sit at home and phone to get appointment and stay there if I can help!

funnily enough, I got sick of waiting on the phone for forty minutes and then not getting through. There are now five docs at my practice when there used to be twelve.

But we are allowed to call into the surgery in person and we get seen after a couple of minutes! Though we might wait for four or five weeks for an appointment then.

Yes it's extremely difficult to do the simple things these days. You can't get through on the phone. So I have gone to the surgery before. But now you have to ring up. Everything is just so much more difficult to do. Brian

I really feel for you. My previous doctors was a complete nightmare so, following my daughter's advice I changed and now I am a patient at a tiny surgery with only two doctors and one who does telephone consultations only. Everything is in one place from blood tests to physiotherapy, mental health nurse, you name it, they provide it.When you ring up they answer the phone and are always pleasant and helpful. They call you with test results and someone will call you to discuss them if necessary.

If they can do it why can't all surgeries. They really should be a beacon for others to follow. I can't praise them highly enough.

your fortunate I too was formally in a small surgery 2/3 doctors then it was. Merged with others to form a medical centres my original GPS left before it was merged. So a load of Doctors that didn’t know us as a family. I wish I could turn back time. Nothing will ever be the same but that’s progress someone told me that they are trying to combine small surgeries I may be wrong
