hi I had myTAVI on Wednesday and apart from horrendous bruising and for some reason a bit of backache I am home. One or two minor problems in hospital with oxygen level dropping to 70 and ECG being ‘prolonged’ but everything settled fine . They said my heart had 80% pressure not sure what that means but I go back in 4 weeks for an echocardiogram then 2 weeks later to see consultant . Just a bit confused with having so many people working on me at the same time but the 2 hours passed quickly and the nurse then rang my husband to say it had gone well and he could come and sit with me as I was to lie on my back for four hours anyone facing a Tavi don’t worry I start my rehabilitation with BHF nurses in 3 weeks.
my TAVI experience : hi I had myTAVI on... - British Heart Fou...
my TAVI experience
Hello
I am glad it went as well as it could have and that you will be starting your Rehabilitation in a three weeks I am sure that will be a big help and support
A very positive post for anyone that is going to have to have similar as you and thank you for taking the time to post something so reassuring
Let us know how you get in x
Glad it went well. Just let your body now tell you how well you are I found it took longer than I had expected and I had a blood pressure hiccup at 6 weeks when my valve was working so well my pressure couldn't decide where it should be my 6 week ecg showed valve working really well with no leakage. I had a valve put in which keeps expanding for 6 weeks post op. My echo at a year and my check up showed the same results and the surgeon is highly delighted I am sure you will be the same
The new valve keeps on expanding for 6 weeks to seal any gaps at the edges as sometimes they are uneven it is called a Edwards Evolat valve
That doesn't sound as bad as I had expected. Have CT Angiography on Wednesday then seeing Surgeon on Friday to discuss my op.
Your post is interesting I am probably not going to be suitable for TAVI but one thing you mentioned bothers me. In addition to other health problems, I cannot lie on my back, until you mentioned doing so for four hours I now realise I would not be able to tolerate it, so never having given a thought to that, I'm glad you told us about it, there is obviously more to it than I realised. Thank you as I didn't also realise rehabilitation was involved.
unfortunately it is something that appears to be necessary to allow your heart to settle and find its rhythm and being female it is harder to pee while on your back too lol
