Ventricular Tachycardia

I have been diagnosed on various occasions with Ventricular Tachycardia, likely arising on the outward tract of the right ventricle. I have an absolutely normal heart structurally. Had since 14, now 46. Have had 3 ablations and going for a 4th shortly. I have also suffered significantly from ectopics , bigemini and trigemini . Has conditioned my life as have been frightened to do sport. It has come and gone in phases but currently going through a rough patch due to divorce and other health issues. Can anybody relate and what helps you cope? Thanks!

This seems to have been a big problem for years so will ask the obvious questions as to your diet and weight.

You also seem to imply it is triggered by anxiety/life circumstances. Have you tried meditation or yoga?

Have not done much exercise ever due to the condition and the fear of course. I believe I follow a reasonable diet, highly 180cm and weight 84kg. Don’t have the patience for meditation, yoga have not tried.

I had a VT while training in the gym last September 2023..I was admitted to hospital because I collapsed ...........and had history of a cardiac arrest in 2020 and have an implanted ICD.....Once they integrated the device it read that my HR went Upto 263/minute.... ...Since then I had an upgrade to my device and extra meds, some of which I'm struggling to tolerate cos they reduce my BP and increase potassium levels and I feel light headed....My Ejection Fraction is now 35% which means I'm in heart failure .....This means that an extra cocktail of 4 meds are introduced to support the heart function and hopefully manage the condition...... However it takes a while to to get the doses to match the individual.... I've always been a fit guy and the gym is my passion but the dilemma is , raising my HR to a good level to stimulate fat burn and better cardio function....Most of the meds seem to slow the heart down and lower the BP and consequently I've put a bit of weight on. I'm now 85k at 5'9".......So I would say don't be afraid of sport....in fact it's encouraged...Just make sure to ask the right questions to Doctors...

Thanks Dan.

Thanks Dan for your honest feedback. I have never collapsed during a VT, that said I have always immediately sat down when going through a VT episode. I have told a million times that I have an absolutely normal heart but I am shit scared about my VT. You’re so brave to continue pushing through with exercise! Good on you Dan!
