hi bit of a silly question but here goes. I am going on holiday to Turkey. I have a defibrillator fitted 4 months ago is it okay to go swimming in the hotel pool?

hi everyone
Swimming is fine just make sure the wound has healed and don't overdo the workout. It takes time for the internal healing
My private cardiologist said I had to wait a year until I could swim because of the over arm movement as you are still healing, but maybe he is just over cautious. I took his advice though. He also advised that when swimming I should not be on my own, as if the defibrillator fired and I was on my own in the pool, this could obviously me more difficulties than being on land and it firing.Beat to see what your HF team advise about swimming so soon after implantation.
Hi I was just advised never to swim on my own in case it fired. I never swim in pools just the sea and I always asked someone to just keep an eye out for me. Char
Hi sorry I probably worded that wrong, they said you can swim in pools or the sea as long as someone is there to keep an eye out just in case it fired. Mine fired once when I was in bed sleeping, I never noticed which my consultant thought was very odd, it was the hospital that phoned to let me know and I was taken in overnight for observation.I have since had a transplant so I don't have it anymore. Sorry to hear that, it must have been really scary especially on holiday. I hope everything has settled down a bit now. Char
Hi thanks. Yes it’s been sorted out now . I was i Cyprus at the time. Ended up I. Hospital for a night. And had to cut holiday short by 3 day . Got home and went straight to hospital here and was keeped in for a night. To cut long story short. Am fine for now .
