Hi thank you for letting me join your forum. My Husband died aged 53 of acute myocarditis, having tried to get answers from the NHS as why all the tests he had been having prior to this nothing was coming back as a cause for this. However, I have now found out that after his heart monitor on 9th August that year, the hospital had diagnosed paroxysmal atrial fibrillation and atrial tachycardia. The letter from our hospital was dated 21st October and my husband died in his sleep 5 days later not knowing about this. My question is, is this length from tests normal and why did they not contact him about this earlier.
Many thanks for reading

Hi Betsy, Im so sorry to hear of the loss of your hubby. I had acute myopericarditis and was very ill but am obviously lucky to be still here.
Many of us on here from posts Ive read, do find that letters, results, appointments are taking too long to come through these days. BUT often people also say 'but if its urgent you will/do hear quickly'
If the A fib was present at the same time as the myocarditis they should definitely noticed and treated it!
Can I ask if hubby was in hospital with his myocarditis?
As per the previous reply do talk to PALS at the hospital. You can do things like arrange a meeting and go through the timeline, request his notes etc They will support you.
