The waiting can be so stressful. Just try and fill the next few days with a few treats to look forward to and have something lovely planned afterwards, once you’re recovering. A goal to reach - fitness wise. Remember to take a pic of your loved ones to have on your bedside table when in I.C.U. (Phones weren’t permitted there, in my hospital). I wish I’d done that. Also, take a V pillow to have when back on the ward. They def help support you sleeping upright. Noise cancelling headphones also came in very useful... There will be a lot of beeping going on - particularly if you’re near the Nurses Station!

Wishing you the speediest of recoveries and remember that the Surgeons perfom this op every week. It’s nothing new to them.

Take care. ❤️‍🩹

Im 180 miles from the hospital so will have my preadmittance checks on tueday morning before they admit me hopefully. Not packed my bag yet putting it off lol.

I go into hospital on Monday to have a triple on Tuesday.

I've been very anxious for weeks, waiting. Not knowing how it will feel, how I will cope is obviously a worry.

What helps me is focusing on how much better I will feel afterwards. I'll be able to go on walking holidays, coach kids football teams again.

My mother had a bypass in 1987 which at that time involved staying in hospital for 6 weeks. She lived for another 29 years. so that's what I'm going to think about on Wednesday when I have my triple :)

Good idea :)

I'm glad it's not supposed to be a six week stay in hospital these days!

Hi BowlsnutWishing you all the very best with your preop and operation. My partner had mitral valve repair at Papworth in January 2024 and the care they provide at this amazing hospital is second to none.
