Water retention odeama

Hi all. I had a cardio ablation seven weeks ago and at that time stopped forosamide. I found over the last couple of days as it's getting warmer I am now holding quite a lot of fluid. I still have furosemide on prescription and was advised to manage this myself. Has anybody got experience of this and also I wondered if I should administer forosamide for a short term or carry on daily as per pre cardio ablation? I will obviously check with my heart team however I just wondered people's experiences on this.thanx.

I would suggest you contact your heart team. If you're restarting furosemide then you will need bloods taken after a week or so to check your kidney function. My husband started retaining fluid after an ablation, his nurse increases his furosemide until the fluid goes down but even if he's only on the increased dose for a week he has to have his kidney function checked.Good luck.

Hi I’m 18 months post triple bypass and still on furosemide due to water retention. It’s a difficult one due to the effect it can have on your kidneys as Lezzers points out. I have tried stopping the furosemide but without it my water retention seems worse. I have a appointment next week with a cardiac nurse so intend to discuss this then. Contact your cardiac team as Lezzers suggests. Good luck 🍀🍀😊X

Hi. I have had 2 ablations and now have a PM. I never stopped Furusomide. I do miss the odd day if I need to go out. However, when I do the fluid retention is awful. Get advise, but do be prepared to go back on it. Good luck!
