I would like to say thank you to everyone who has replied to my post.
Your responses have been very reassuring and I will certainly take on board all the advice I have been given.
It seems that the doctors have to give a generalised timeline for recovery, whereas everyone is different and some may recover sooner or take longer. Oddly enough the day after posting my head felt a lot clearer and I am feeling more optomistic as a result. At the moment I think that getting out and walking every day is the most helpful thing towards recovery and I will continue to do that.
Once again, thanks for all your responses it has been so helpful to hear from people who have actually gone through the same operation.

From your last post to this one I can feel a big difference how you are posting now to then which is great that your replies have helped to make you feel this way
Just keep remembering we are all different and so therefore so is our recovery but as long as we keep moving forward that is all that matters and go at our own pace
I am sure in your own time you are going to make a good recovery and I shall look out for your updates x
What I did to increase my walking was once in the morning then once more later in the afternoon, it seemed to work.Longer in the morning and shorter in the afternoon. Pretty soon I was doing some quite long mileages. Good luck 😊
I kept a daily health diary. It is clear that on a day to day basis it was often 2 steps forwards and one back and sometimes 1 forward and 2 back.
However, looked at on a week by week and month by month basis the advances became obvious. So don't focus on the very short term and don't try to do too much
