No meds

Hi everyone I finally had my results of the MRI done Feb 1st. It showed previous peri myocarditis and some decrease cardiac intake . The cardiologist told me that this result should not be the cause of my daily chest pain .I asked about the myocarditis and he said it could reoccur and will need anti-inflammatory treatment . He said he did not have anything else to offer for my angina .I was prescribed a statin Rosuvastatin 2 months ago and still nervous about starting due to my intolerance to meds .I mentioned in the past that I did not tolerate Amlodipine, Diltizem or the Nitro patch ! My cholesterol is really borderline and my Ca on the nuclear scan was 0 . I did not have the diagnostic angiogram with provocation as the treatment would be with meds I did not tolerate . Nicorandil is not available in Canada, only in special cases with positive vsa diagnosis by angio . . I only have nitro spray for severe attacks . I had several ER visits . Is anyone else in the same situation on no meds ? I am very tired and have daily chest pain some days more than others ! My nights are terrible and basically have no life . I walk 30 -45 minutes/day . I feel that I am getting weaker and am very scared . Thanks for all your support .

Hi, do you know when the myopericarditis occurred? It can take months - in my case 2 years - to recover. During recovery ❤️‍🩹 chest pain is very much an issue for many of us on here who have also suffered. The best medicine is REST REST & then more REST!

Even walking 45mins a day could be over doing it especially as you say you are feeling weaker.

Personally I'd suggest you have a couple of weeks of doung nothing if you can - ask family & friends to help with meals, shopping etc. your heart has gone theough a trauma and needs complete rest to recover.

Many GPs even cardiologists are not very knowledgeable on this condition so do talk yo the BHF nurses on here they are excellent.

Good luck in your recovery and do take care of yourself.

I second the Rest, Rest and more Rest I had myopericarditis and didn’t do anything for weeks as I had no energy. Since feeling better I’ve slowly done more exercise walking and 8 weeks of nhs cardio fitness and now Aqua fit and I feel so much better. Hope you are able to rest and have family to help you.

i am sorry to hear that you are having these problems and that your cardiologist does not seem able to offer more help

this is the third time i have drafted this reply and it disappears every time i try to add the links, so this time i won't add links, you will have to find things yourself from my hints!

as others have said, myo and pericarditis can cause severe chest pain for quite a while - exercise and activity tend to make it worse - this is because either the supply of fuel and oxygen to your heart is reduced by the inflammation or the inflammation affects the way the heart muscle cells use the fuel and oxygen to make energy - so the more active you are the more you get pain - there is very little that can be done to help this get better other than rest while the inflammation resolves and the heart recovers

sometime medication can help, but you seem to be sensitive to medication and this is also causing you problems

there have been previous posts on peri and myocarditis - if you do a search in the group for them you should find some - you might find helpful info in them, like online sources of info and support as well as the experience of others with these conditions

as someone who had to retire from work at 42 for health reasons i think i can understand a little of your fear - my own life and projected future disappeared when i became housebound and functioned at barely 15% of normal for years - it is scary - so i hope you have good support - you might also need to do a bit m ore digging about conditions which can cause chest pain when there are no obstructed arteries (referred to as INOCA or ANOCA, Ischemia/Angina with No Obstructed Arteries), as these might be underlying your myo-pericarditis problem - try looking up the International Heart Spasm Alliance and INOCA International

you might also be better off with a cardiologist with more current knowledge of these and other conditions, or at least one with a more open mind! although i know that where you are it might be hard to find any choice

meanwhile, there is life beyond this, but you will need to be patient and give in to it for a while - you won't do your heart any favours by making it work more than it can🌺

Thank you . There doesn't seem to be any active inflammation. It showed previous perimyocarditis . As I mentioned before , I have ? ANOCA and I am seeing a cardiologist with more knowledge in this disease . I only see her at the end of April . I will try to rest more although I don't really do much . I try to do my 30 minutes walk for my anxiety as well .I am very sensitive to meds , so I feel like there is nothing more I can take . It is very challenging !!!
