Hi all,
I was at the Brompton on Friday for ASD Device closure through the catheter/groin but sadly it failed - they made a number of attempts but due to the position of the ASD which is sitting in the middle of aneurysmal tissue they couldn’t close it. I was so upset, as I really thought this would be the problem sorted! But onwards and upwards….
Anyway, they have done the right thing, this is the first time my surgeon hasn’t closed an ASD she said, so I am an anomaly 😂 - typical it would be me!
I’ve been in for an MRI today which was 1 3/4 hours long! And then have an appointment to discuss options on Tuesday.
My question is, has anyone had a similar experience and what was the outcome?
Has anyone then had a successful closure through the neck?
And any experiences of them puncturing another hole in your heart in order to be able to close the ASD - transseptal puncture? Still via groin/catheter method.
From a positive point of view I have and had no pain whatsoever in the groin, the incision is so so tiny you wouldn’t even know I have had anything done, and I feel completely fine in myself!
Thank you for any advice,
Emma x
