Hi, always liked a few drinks at the end of the day, had a fib for around 7 years, did dry January this year, after 3 weeks no signs of a fib, anyone the same!

Alcohol is a very common aFib trigger and it can make us feel worse if we also take medications which is why it's generally recommended to reduce your alcohol consumption, choose different drinks with less sugar , artificial sweetener or caffeine content, if we have a rare tipple, or stop drinking altogether.
Well done for doing Dry January, a bet it didn't feel like a big loss by the end of the month, if you did it then you can keep it up.
Hi Carpetman - congratulations on completing Dry January! My younger brother was diagnosed with AF many years ago and has found that, as he's aged, certain alcoholic drinks can now bring on an episode. He's 55 now, and was certainly never a heavy drinker, but always enjoyed a few glasses of red wine on Saturdays when he loves cooking up a storm. He's found that both red and white wine is definitely a no-no these days as it will bring on an episode. He's now having a couple of glasses of lager shandy while he cooks and I still get to sample his new Saturday recipes!😁Keep well, Carol
I always find gin a trigger but I’m wondering if it is the diet tonic in it with artificial sweetener, that combined with the alcohol. I stick with lager if I go out, which I could count on one hand per annum, with dash of lime, got to make it healthy by adding fruit!!! Take care 🦊x
