Has anyone been offered a Pacemaker implant for Paroxysmal AF and not had it done? What has happened as a result and have you been offered the procedure again. I was supposed to have my implant done in February but was too scared to have it done. Please tell me your stories.

Pacemaker
I put my offer off for 2 years then had a blackout whilst driving on a motorway. Survived without causing injury to anyone else, but then had to accept implant. Not only was the procedure painless and took less than an hour, I am really good now. Ok there is some soreness for a few days and it goes away but the benefits for me have been like a lottery win.
Wish you well.
Hi Claytod Thanks for your reply, very helpful. I am scared of having the procedure and have shied away from it twice. I have had two fainting do`s and get these reversion pauses as they call them which are most unpleasant and scary. I think my Cardiologist has got fed up and referred me back to my GP. I am on Metoprolol and Apixaban but feel the Metoprolol doesn`t work for me now. Been tried on anti-Arrhythmics and can`t take them so think I shall have to bite the bullet and have the procedure. Interested in your experience and thank you for your good wishes.
The idea of a bit of tech driving your heart is a lot scary. However, it is better and more reliable than passing out. I'd say to trust the medics. they do actually know what they are doing,
Thanks, Beardy, I know you`re right. I`ve made up my mind I`m going to have it done when they send for me, it`s more scary to pass out and as a carer for my Husband life is difficult when I can`t do what I have to do because I`m dizzy so gotta get on with it. He has AF as well but his is permanent so no reversion pauses for him, wish mine had gone permanent but doesn`t look like it`s going to. Thanks for replying to me.
