A heart friend of mine sent me the below message today. Have you guys experienced anything like this? He did have a couple of infections on recovery so I’m wondering if this has something effected things. All advice welcome xx

“Hi Rosie. Can I ask you a question about your healing of the breast bone please. I’m sure the bone has healed by now but sometimes when I’m lying on my side in bed and roll onto my other side I’m sure it clicks. Scares the crap out of me. Ever happen to you? It feels mainly at the bottom of the sternum. Maybe it cartilage rather than bone there? Doesn’t hurt, just freaks me out. X”

Hello :-)

I had a friend that hers clicked and she did get checked and they never said why but found nothing wrong

Also at the top of mine I can feel a bone that feels like it is moving my Doctor gave it a fancy name and when it does it then sometimes it really hurts but said there is nothing wrong other than the fancy term she gave it

Tell your friend not to be worried but to let their Doctor check it out :-)

Let us know how they get on :-) x

Thats interesting as I also have a bone that moves in exactly the same place. Did the Doctor explain why? She didn't seem concerned about it, which is good.

Hello :-)

Mine is just under my throat the first time it happened is when I turned my head and I just happened to have my hand there and it really shocked me when I could actually feel it move and I kept doing it and every time it moved and still does

I will be honest you know when Doctors come out with all the jargon that you just cannot understand and wished they would realise you are not a Doctor so means nothing to you she did one of those and was lost on me the part I did get is it is nothing to worry about :-) x

Hi

Yes tell your friend not to worry, I experienced the same, simply where the sternum is braced and once it knits this will stop.

Take care

Hello, MarmiteB. I has a Triple Coronary Artery Graft Op, about 10 months, ago. To do that they had to split my breast bone (sternum). If I sneezed or coughed violently, I would feel a clicking sensation, near the top, so a few weeks after a heart surgeon got me to cough, whilst feeling down my breastbone. He told me he could not feel anything wrong. After several months, I had no more clicking, but occasionally it feels a bit like that, on the top lefthand side, when the top side the chest gets moved. It might be becaused when they wire the 2 sides of the sternum back together, it might not be done tight enough.

my surgeon asked me if I heard a clicking sound coming from chest? I said no as I hadn’t and he seemed quite pleased so not sure if it’s a thing or not

Mine does it sometimes on movement but does it all the time if warming up for exercise when rolling my shoulders backwards. I was worried at the start but now it’s just a noise and a feeling in the back ground.

What gets me more is I’m really thin and if you look at my chest you can see all wires and bits just under the skin it looks like the alien is about to pop out😵‍💫😵‍💫
