Hopefully Milkfairy will be along soon, who can advise on vasospastic angina and consultant specialists in the UK.
I believe you are in Canada?
There are some knowledgeable Cardiologists in Canada and US.
I believe you say you have been offered a functional angiogram in the past?
I have seen 3 world leading experts in caring for patients living with vasospastic angina in the UK over 11 years. One is probably the Prof you are asking about.
Despite their input my vasospastic angina is still resistant to treatment. They couldn't fix me so they ran out of ideas, I got passed on as they retired a bit like playing pass the parcel.
In the end I decided that what I needed was some local to me whom I could establish a trusted relationship of mutual respect.
I have found this with my Cardiologist at my local prestigious north London hospital. He's the very best. He's an Interventional Cardiologist, a researcher, experienced, listens and respects my expertise as an expert patient by experience. I trust his advice and judgement.
He's the one that comes to see me on the ward, keeps his colleagues informed of how to care for me and I can contact when necessary.
Another thought. The system in the UK is different how will you be able to take up any recommendations of an overseas Cardiologist? Will you be able to ask the UK Cardiologist and your Canadian Cardiologist to liase with one another?
This link may help to find a north American based Cardiologist.
Good Luck!
Thank you so much . Yes I was questioning also the followup in Canada with a UK treatment plan . I am glad you found a cardiologist that is so caring and respects your knowledge. Unfortunately I haven't yet . I will look at your link . Yes I was offered a functional angio , but as I cannot toleratethe treatment there doesn't seem to be the answer . The interventional cardiologist said "it is a goog question ".
It took me many years to find my present Cardiologist. I certainly appreciate his care. I know he'll be retiring in a few years, so I am on the look out for his successor.
I hope you are able to find the support you need. Living with vasospastic angina is not easy if you can't take or the medication doesn't work.
