Hello everyone. Today marks 3 months post stent. Rehab team cleared me for some weight training and give me a target heart rate to work on. I started with fast walk few fews ago and everything seems ok. Just wondering has anyone started light jog at 3 months. Because when I walk I really need to walk more than 9km/h pace to reach my target heart rate. Just worried to start running because of fear the stent would move etc 😂. Thanks . Used to play 11 aside football and now even afraid of light jog.
thanks 😊

hey! Everyone is different but what the rehab nurses said to me was that as long as you can speak a sentence without having to take a big breath then you’re ok. I started slowly jogging (couch to 5km week 1) at about 10/11 weeks post op (CABG x2) and by 16 weeks I was running 5km. So I would say that if you can, and you can breath well, then it should be ok - but always chat the rehab guys as they are helpful and they also want to see you succeed xx
Thanks for the reply. That is such an inspiring progress. I had a chat with rehab them they said I can pretty much can ahead I am ready. I guess it’s just me who limiting myself. Did you have to do stress test before start running? And how long before you can go beyond initial target heart rate. I have 2 more session before the rehab complete.
If you are unsure I suggest you talk to your rehab people. We are all different and stent position can be different too, so the advice for one person may be not be the same as that for the next person.
Yes I had conversation with them and they are like you can go start kicking football if you want but just monitor the heart rate. It just they never told me until when the heart rate is limiting. They thing is my rehab don’t even have running session.
