Me Just over 2 months ago, heart attacks are something that happened to other people, not me
Me 2 months ago , omg I had one
Me after it - getting used to medicines, had panic attacks, felt unsafe, anxious about going out and about, was googling hourly about everything to do with heart attacks, lost my confidence and felt a loss for the carefree , no holds barred attitude to life I had previously. Couldn't talk about it to people without feeling overwhelmed.
Me 3 weeks ago -started to get ''used to it''. Started walks, started going to shops, then supermarkets myself. Got my haircut, had a few beers, ate a burger guilt free. The anxiety started to lessen, I reached less and less for Google. Stared cardio rehab which was a game changer.
Me Today- , getting ready for work next week. Went for a 4 mile walk , try to do 3 miles daily now. Did some weight training Saturday and Sunday. Went to supermarket without anxiety. Mind still hones in to any chest twinge, but I now let it be. Still have moments of 'fear' or catastrophising but now I try to control then, rather then the other way round. Can talk about it with a lot more ease then before.
Me tomorrow -I'm expecting some wobbles in this life journey but to anyone whos going through this, all I can say is the human body and mind given time can recover in ways that you don't think possible.
Take it easy and let time do its thing

Needed to hear that, just done my first week at home after having stents fitted. Feeling completely lost at the moment but trying to be positive ( second chance and all that) thank you
What a great post! Heart events are overwhelming and take time to adapt to. But our body and mind can be amazing, going at a pace to give us time to recover, adapt to our new normal and get back on track. Wishing you all the best for your return to work. Take each day as it comes and be kind to yourself 🤗
Hello baly_2023 - an absolute perfect post as to exactly how I felt but it’s taken me nearly two years to reach where you are. It’s been the worst time of my life and I never ever imagined I’d go through this but like you and many others, I did. You’re completely right, we do need the time to accept and heal and stop catastrophising and look to the future and I’m glad you feel about there now. An encouraging and inspirational post that you’ve shared and I hope it helps those who feel stuck right now. Things do get easier in time and I think once we regain our confidence we then feel we’ve returned to some kind of normality and get on with living. Thank you for your story and good luck with your future health, you sound like you’re doing good. Best wishes ❤️🧚🏼♀️
Wonderful to hear about your new fitness goals and positive mental attitude! Keep going! I am hopefully starting cardio rehab in next few weeks as can't get it on NHS where l live (so paying privately). Hope mine is successful as yours.
