hi

I am thinking of joining a fitness dance class broadway boogie it looks fun good cardio

Has anyone done this / tried it after having a heart attack?

I had a heart attack in 2020 and all I have been really doing is walking I know I need to get the heart pumping a bit more and push myself but I have always been scared

this looks fun but I’m scared about doing something new like this, pretty much like everything since the HA

I spoke with the instructor who said it’s fine as long as I do it to my pace and don’t jump around too much

Appreciate anyone’s thoughts/experiance on this

There is a video on their website broadwayboogie .com

Hi Sammyjoe77, just some thoughts. Cardiovascular exercise is important for heart health but it’s probably wise to begin by attending cardiac rehabilitation, where you can be monitored. Have you had this?

My 8 cardiac rehab sessions are coming to an end and I’m returning to dance classes knowing what I need to be mindful of and always ensuring I have my GTN spray available. A good class will always have a warm up and cooling down period, both of which are very important for you. Enjoy it!

I say go for it! But don' t overdo things at the start. Listen to your body and as a rule of thumb raise your level of activity to the point at which you are slightly breathless but can still talk. And the more you do the easier it will become. Enjoy 👍
