Hello :-)

I am so sorry to hear about your heart attack

Well done giving up smoking that is not an easy but you have done it and will give you a good start in living a healthier lifestyle :-)

No one should judge anyone on here and I certainly never would but you already know weed sends you heart rate up and sensible to realise you have to stop this to but under some kind of controlled plan

I went on the NHS website will put you the link on to have a look but to me talks a lot of sense and I think a good place to start :-)

I hope you will let us know how you get on :-) x

Thanks 🙌 I stopped everything immediately weed included however after 3-4 days the withdrawals was making my heart rate increase. I've managed to loose a stone this week, and at the moment I'm having very small draws of 1 joint which is putting away the withdrawal. I feel personally I need to cut down to stop but again doing so in a safe manner and not trying to cause my heary more strain.

Hello :-)

You have done really well in achieving what you have in such a short time but I agree you need to seek advice about the weed and how to do it safely and I have every faith you will succeed in doing so :-) x

I think you are doing the right thing. I suggest keeping a diary of how often you have a draw on a joint and review it every day. As long as it's steady and not increasing you are doing fine. Then when you are ready space it out more, maybe one less draw every other day and see how that goes. Also do some relaxation or mediation. I could be horrible and suggest taking up yoga which would be fine if you did, but more like something to calm you down that isn't drug based and which you can do regularly at home such as a short walk round the park or a phone call to a friend.

Hi so sorry to hear about your Heart Attack.

I hope you recover well.

Firstly take your time, it's a physical and mentally traumatic event, so rest, rest, be gentle and kind to yourself.

Weed advice is something I would have an honest conversation with your GP or the British heart foundation help line about.

You will be on a lot of medications now, all of which will have various interactions with themselves, your body and anything else you take.

Recover first, let your body and heart adjust to the medicines which are keeping your heart safe. Then have a chat with your GP about weed replacements .

Don’t try and give up two things at once. That’s the advice that was given to me when I was in Proiry giving up alcohol. The smokers were advised to carry on until they were fully in control of their alcohol addiction and then try to give up the nicotine. Best of luck.

If its the buzz you are missing perhaps try making them edible?

That's what I would do. I don't think cannabis has withdrawal effects but I found it took months before I was OK again after a stent was inserted for uncontrolled angina.

Edible and slowly reduce the dose might well be a way forward. Cookies, flapjacks, cheese sauce on pasta (these are memories of a mispent youth by the way, these days I am two cups of posh coffee and two cups of cheap tea a day and thats about it in terms of intoxicants).

If that doesn't work or is not appealing try either spacing out the joints, ie time them and slowly increase the gaps by maybe half an hour increase each week until it's one a day and then one very other day - but once again do it slowly. Have a plan to reduce over two to six months maybe.
