Mild aortic valve regurgitation with aortic root dilated at the level of ascending aorta at 5.04 cm.
The heart was normal size and overall function.
(The CT coronary angiography had shown a dilated descending thoracic aorta 5 cm with aortic valve regurgitation which is why they arranged the echocardiogram. There was no evidence of significant calcification or disease.)
As the aortic valve leak is mild they will monitor the dilated aorta by repeating echocardiography in 12 months time.
I will try to stop worrying.

I had a pacemaker fitted 15 years ago due to slow heart rate, they diagnosed aortic valve regurgitation and I was monitored for a further 7 years before I needed surgery on it. Try not to let it take over your thoughts. I got more breathless doing exercises and knew it was time for intervention.
