I find this type of research fascinating and a good read, am I going to go out and buy it, probably not, but I have made a note of it and will revisit it in time.

2 different doctors with very good observational results.

I post this here for discussion rather than a recommendation.

Now that is incredibly interesting. I'm going to email the BHF and ask about this compound as it's so readily available in places like Holland and Barrets and how come we never here about it .

I did read that it can have adverse reactions with blood thinning medications.

But those results in the research papers seem almost miraculous.

very interesting papers indeed! Unfortunately, the treatment falls under the category of “ big Pharma can’t make money out of it “! The wholly grail known as statin is making them billions and is only going to increase, as they find other ways to push it.

These are very interesting. I wonder how many specialists know about this and if it's considered in their training. It would be useful to know about the studies carried out on this that have been peer reviewed. Not funded by big pharma though!

if it weren’t for the warning that chondritin can’t be taken with ACs I might consider this. Interestingly in looking around the subject it appears another generalised joint tablet glucosamine seems to have produced some benefits for certain people

Thanks for posting those. Quite fascinating. It led me to do a bit more digging and I found some more recent stuff (2021 and 2018) that supports this.

The key headlines from these studies are:

"Our results support a cardioprotective effect of CS, while glucosamine seems to be neutral. The protection was remarkable among subgroups at high cardiovascular risk."

And

"Reported cardioprotective effects of CS may arise from modulation of pro-inflammatory activation of endothelium and monocytes and foam cell formation."

Thanks to everybody who replied , I enjoyed reading all your messages, I enjoy having these types of discussion and conversations, and special thanks to Sb1171 for the recent study finds, to other people reading, this forms the basis of information and reference and not a recommendation to go out and buy CS. Let's hope some future studies further our understanding.
