Your troponin level was low so that's good. Mild blockage at 63 is really good. Nstemi typically means no damage to the heart so that's good. I had an nstemi in 2018 and I have no problems at all, my troponin was at 160ish.

Hi, I had Nstemi in July , came on like trapped wind, was very painful . My wife called for 111, I really thought it was trapped wind. Ambulance crew hooked me up to ECG and my heart was fine but they insisted on me going to hospital to get trop count. It took two blood tests and 10 hours .. I nearly went home ! First was 74 then at 23:00 they told me second trop count was 402 confirmed I had heart attack. I had quadruple bypass on 25th July, making a fantastic recovery. Cardiac team said I should make a full recovery , new pipes and no damage to my heart . I think it’s a fantastic outcome , I’d rather a nstemi heart attack with no other complications than cardiac arrest. I feel very lucky and grateful.

My mum had a NSTEMI two weeks ago, very little damage to her heart apart from what her heart failure has done. She is doing ok apart from a little funny turn last Sunday. She is 82. She has her sprays and hopefully she will continue to get stronger. Please don't worry to much. X

It’s natural to feel nervous or anxious, a diagnosis like this can be daunting. I went through the same process. It took me a while to get my head around it and work out what my life would or could be in the future.

I had a heart attack (NSTEMI type II) and that was my introduction to Afib (paroxysmal); the eventual conclusion was the untreated and undiagnosed arrhythmia caused a small transient clot that entered my heart. Prior to this, I was totally oblivious.

ECG slightly abnormal but corrected itself. Trop assay was 71ng/l and 144ng/l. Heart, Echo structurally normal but there was slight left ventricle dysfunction. Angiogram, flows ok, some lesions. No intervention - discharged with medication and rehab.

That was 4.5 years ago. My Afib is very stable and well controlled with medication. I still participate in my local cardiac rehab program. An Echo last year, showed no sign of the dysfunction. I am fit and healthy - enjoying life and running, climbing, cycling & travelling.

Admittedly, it took a year or so for me to be more comfortable but it did come. It’s important to work with your care team (cardiologist / gp / nurse). Discuss any concerns and find a solution that works for you.

Good luck

I had an NSTEMI over 5 years ago and found to have some severly blocked arteries the worst being one they would rather not stent, and have other ongoing long-term stuff to contend with, but I am still here. I am now in my mid 70s, still ride my motorbike, walk and cycle, do physical voluntary work, go on holiday, and play saxophone to name a few. Forget you had an NSTEMI, it's not a badge, but do take each day as it comes and enjoy life.
