Coming off beta blockers.

I have just been on 2.5mg Nebivolol for over a year. At my annual check up my doctors said my heart rate of 45 was too low and recommended stopping beta blockers. So now all good, heart rate over 50 and I can even get through daytime without napping! However, every night I wake up at about 4am and have real trouble getting back to sleep and also I can never sleep beyond 8am.Is this a temporary thing or not?

Hello :-)

This is good news you have been able to come of beta blockers and now you are not feeling as tired and your heart rate is better :-)

It no doubt will be temporary waking up as you are try not to worry about it for now maybe it is your body adjusting during the night not having the beta blockers which were making you feel tired I imagine night time to

Hopefully this will all settle down and if not just mention it next time you speak to your Doctor so they can reassure you but hopefully by the time you speak with your Doctor again things will have settled down :-) x

So, bed at 1am this morning. 6.30am wide awake. I spent my entire working life wishing for lie ins, now I find it impossible 🙄.

Hello :-)

I am just the same I can be even as late as 2 in the Morning before I can go to bed

Once the Doctor offered me sleeping tablets but I was not keen on that idea I am not sure though if it is something you have ever thought about ?

I hope you have the best day you can :-) x

Hi there. I have never taken a sleeping tablet. In the grand scheme of things I don't have a problem, it is what it is. On the plus side being off beta blockers I now don't feel tired all day, I have energy!🏃‍♂️🏃‍♂️🏃‍♂️🏃‍♂️.

I was like you, I just accepted that beta blockers were for ever. It was the Doctors that suggested stopping.

Hello :-)

I asked my Surgeon about several meds I was on she agreed a couple could be changed but she was adamant beta blockers were not up for negotiation they were there to stay :-) x
