A year after triple bypass. Feel fine. I worry about low resting heart rate around 45 mainly but at times below 40. No symptoms but there again mainly symptom free when had heart attack only 10 minutes of shortage of breath. Any thoughts?

Low heart rstr
dear Bibarius
I had the similar problem. When I went below 40 bpm I did panic. But I got through by keeping on the medication, gently exercising, taking relaxation courses and reducing moderate boozing to extremely low boozing. Just a little bit of everything.
At our tender ages it is a shame we need to do the moderating, but it’s better than becoming too sedentary. And reducing the hours in hospital.
Good luck

Hi Bobarius,
I had heart rate figures similar to yours, but suffered dreadful feelings of impending doom and I almost passed out each time I stood up after sitting for a while. It turned out to be down to the beta blocker prescribed. Initially I was on 3.75mg Bisoprolol. I am now on 1,25mg and my heart rate sits around 55bpm. Now only occasionally do I get light headed.
If you feel okay around 45bpm then obviously that's how it is for you. We are all different. I guess if you are concerned, have a chat with your GP.
All the best,
Gerald
Do talk to yo ur GP about how low it' s going. YOu may need your dosage changed
I Had a similar issue, I was on 2.5mg Bisopropolol, which the Doc later reduced to 1.25mg. My new normal rate was about 43, and like others, stand up dizzy head was a regular thing. Then about a week ago, i was heading to bed, felt a bit odd and checked my rate, 31...... quick call to 111 and they had me in for observation and cut my Bisopropolol completely, my new new normal rate is 48 resting. So I would speak to your GP or the rehab guys.
I think I am one of the luck ones, I am able to do daily 2-3 mile walk and don't suffer with breathlessness, to muscle cramps from the statins, which are a bitch when you WANT to exercise.
Remember, it's your body, mind and soul that you have to deal with, so don't be afraid to ask them to make changes to your meds to help you.

Left hospital just over 3 years ago following a Stemi and with 2 stents in LAD. Standard prescription on Ramipril 2.5 twice a day, Bisoprolol 3.75 plus Ticagrelor 90 for 12 months and 80 Atorvastatin, Asprin 75 and Lansoprazole. Background is that I was already diabetic, but in remission, controlled by diet and exercise. I am a keen Parkrunner and try and run 3k 2 or 3 times a week.Initially had issues making multiple trips to the toilet as I adjusted to the mess, but of more concern was light-headedness when getting up. Heart rate pre Stemi around low 50s, BP 110/70, on meds resting heart rate low 40s and alarm on Garmin watch letting me know when dipping into 30s. BP low was 96/55! Ramipril was increased to 5 twice and Bisoprolol reduced to 2.5 and then 1.25 and dizziness has gone.
Still get low heart rate warnings periodically but less stressed about it. Under exercise heart rate up in the 150s, told I must stay under 160 so no more PBs.
Things do settle down, but medications need tweaking to what us right for you!
The thing that bugs me is that as a diabetic I get an annual review, but for the heart I have to raise concerns as 3 years on no more follow ups.
