Has anyone had any news how he's doing since his op? His last post was 10 days ago.

I've been wondering about that myself Qualipop , I hope everything is ok.I wonder whether they might be a member whom was in contact with them by private message or email that would be willing to send them a quick message to ask if they are alright.

Hi I thought the same too. You get used to some people posting it's like being part of a big family here.

Well, especially in the circumstances, we were getting daily updates and then nothing which makes it feel like something serious may have happened.

I agree.

Hello :-)

I have tried to message him and so far had no reply I hope it is because he does not need us as much now and that it is not because he is not well

Hopefully either himself or someone will let us know how he is doing and that he is well :-) x

Well he posted the day after the op so I'd have expected an update by now. I hope someone knows.

I have been wondering the same thing; I really hope that highburyted is doing ok.

The last post about being discharged and how amazed the drs were with their progress sounded really positive 🤞🏼🤞🏼

Best wishes

Yes I’m still here but by god has it been hard, not because of the operation at all but because my copd is compromised caused by the immense pain in my chest. And to cap that my local council made a complete error and stopped my care package to have a home help here ( 12 yrs). Once the hospital released me they realised their mistake but it was too late, my helper had to leave so I have had to literally do everything myself and by god it’s been painful and very difficult. This is now 16 days since the op, feels like 1600, and today I’ve noticed I can cough a little better without mega pain, ( when you’ve got copd that’s all u want to do). I am able to shower but that’s like having a fight with a rattlesnake and wiped out when it’s done and if I had a pound for the amount of times my recliner has gone up and down I’d be rich.

You may have noticed I haven’t mentioned my heart, that’s because it seems he’s ok and it’s worked.

I’ll keep fighting and hopefully better news next time, thanks to all of you for your interest

I hope they have sorted out their mistake and they are organising you a new Home Help ASAP?

You can put in a complaint to push this along.

You shouldn't be forced to struggle like that and it's increasing your risks.

You could contact the hospital Discharge Team and they can step in for you complaining to the Social Care side and organise an interim Home Nurse Visitor in the meantime .

The GP surgery or your respiratory unit can also help , as it isn't medically appropriate for you to be left to deal with this alone when you also have COPD.

At least we can all breath a sigh if relief that you are out there and battling on.

Hugs, Bee

Hi

Gp is non existent, hospital aftercare telephoned and just said oh !!!!! My care package is back in place but it’s now a matter of finding someone. My brother stays with me but he doesn’t finish work till 8pm. I can contact the cardiac rehab team but by tel only no visits. I’m sorry but this is todays health situation n this country - it’s frighteningly absent

I know what you mean , it as I often say , there's nothing that makes you feel more ill than trying to get well.Especially when you are dealing with Health or Social Services.

Hope they find someone for you soon.

Hello :-)

I am so glad I came back on this post and have seen your reply :-)

You can see a lot of people care about you on here :-)

It is early days regarding some of the issues you are having

I am so sorry to hear about the mess with the career and I really hope they will sort out getting you one to help very soon keep letting them know you are really in need of this support

Despite some of the things that are difficult for you I think you are doing really well :-) x

Such a relief to hear from you even though it's hard. Typical council. I hope they sorted it very quickly.

Hi highburyted

I didn’t really want to like your reply because I’m horrified that you’ve been put in this situation and it sounds like no one is helping to rectify it fast!!

Aside from your unnecessary struggles (please put in a complaint or ask your brother to via email?) it sounds like you’re doing amazingly. I’m sorry that our health and social systems are failing you, it’s as much the hospital’s fault as the local councils - I agree with you though, it is unfortunately a sign of the times.

I really hope that the chest pain starts to ease more soon, and you can get a bit more comfortable. Be kind to yourself; hope that you feel well enough to update us again soon (no pressure, we are just worried about you).

Best wishes

So thoughtful of you to post Qualipop. And so wonderful to hear from you Highbury Ted 💗

Qualipop profile image
Qualipop in reply to HHH2017

I was worried as were obviously a lot of others. After all your struggles it was worrying when we didn't hear. One day at a time. AT least you know that this chest pain will eventually go. The hospital should have made sure your care package was in place before you were discharged.

Great to hear from you but not so good to hear that your care package got cancelled. Keep on going, you are progressing, just look for 1% improvement each day or so. You will get there now your heart is happier. Best wishes as always 😊

I had been wondering too so good to know you are still progressing albeit slowly The hospital should have double checked your care package was up and running before they let you go

Qualipop profile image
Qualipop in reply to cappachina

I agree. They are always complaining about bed blockers because they can't get suitable care for people so they obviously have to make sure it's all in place. This hospital really should have checked. They obviously expected he had someone there all the time.

cappachina profile image
cappachina in reply to Qualipop

Yes it seems that they don't check anything nowadays

MaggieSylvie profile image
MaggieSylvie

They do expect someone to be there all the time and they expect that person to be able to do what's necessary, which isn't always the it is.
