Just had my heart echocardiogram - British Heart Fou...
Just had my heart echocardiogram
Yes they did that for me too... I thought it might have been for the anaesthetist to see access ahead of my surgery?
Hi Gaz, There's nothing unusual about it. You get some of the best pictures from there. By the sounds of it, you've had a good Sonographer doing the Echo.
Yeah I used to wonder the same thing! But yeah it's fine, they are checking everything is ok with the jugular vein in your neck x
Yes, it's to check if your carotid arteries are narrowed.
Hi. Yes its normal. My son is scanned every 6 mths with his bicuspid aortic valve and they always do the neck x
yes it is to check carotid artery’s
Had mine yesterday and they did the same
Yes 👍
Hi yes they always do that, I get an echo once a year and it hap every time. Char
Thanks for all your replys, You have explained a lot to me ,Thanks
it is probably routine to do that with some conditions, those where there could be carotid artery or jugular vein issues - i have only had echocardiogram following Takotsubo (aka Stress Related Cardiomyopathy) and they only covered my chest, not my neck
Hi, Gaz22,
Thank you for bringing up a little extra information about an echocardiogram. I am going to have one on the 17th, so I will not worry if my neck area is involved. In fact, I will expect that area to be viewed. ❤️
I think they only covered my chest when they did my ecocardiogram. Don't recall them going near my neck.
Yes they usually scan the carotid and abdominal arteries to get a clear picture.
With me the last part of the echocardiogram was done at the front of the neck, approximately where the thyroid is.
Thank you
I had one last Thursday, they did my neck and my stomach.
