Hi guys.Still waiting for my MRI referral appointment? Not sure how to chase this up as the hospital that referred me isn't doing the MRI? I was sent letter telling me I would my routine MRI that I have every 5 years and that was may?? So I'm confused 😕. And I know I won't get results of echo until I have my other tests ( holter monitor 4th August, And MRI??) I hate to sound impatient as I'm sure there's alot you hearties waiting for tests 💔.

I would phone the hospital the test is being done at ,ask for mri appointments, that's what I've done in the past ,I've also asked to be put on cancellation list ,it can be very scary all the waiting !

Thanks hun. I will definitely do that tomorrow. Yeah the waiting is definitely the worst part of having tests done! 💔X

Hi Yumz. I don’t think you are impatient. I find you have to chase everything these days otherwise you can be put on the back boiler lol.? Is there a phone number on top of the letter you had in May? The only other option is phone the hospital where you are due to have the MRI and ask for that Department. They normally have a reception desk. If you could get to speak to someone they should chase it up for you. I hope so Yumz. Hope all goes well on 4th August. Take care 🥰

Thanks hun yeah so true. Oh wow so you know what it's like getting to London then right pain in the neck! And the price early in the morning is a joke it's an extra 20 pound! Good thing I can get my train fare back. I just wish I could get my echo results it's driving me crazy not knowing, it's probably over nothing but never know with my heart honestly just suits itself 😆. X

I think if there was anything bad they would have contacted you by now. It’s usually within 24 hrs if it’s bad. I can understand your anxiety as l would be the same. Mine goes through the roof. It’s so stressful and takes so much out of you worrying. I feel for you xxxxx

Yumz199725 in reply to Cavalierrubie

Yeah I keep forgetting that 🙈🙊🙉. It's just worrying me cause of how shifty and weird the doctors doing the scan was acting as you can see I worry about literally everything, that's anxiety for ya! X

Cavalierrubie profile image
Cavalierrubie in reply to Yumz199725

Well the scan could have been seen by doctors that didn’t know your complete history and were probably discussing what has always shown up. If there was anything wrong you would have been told then and there and detained at the hospital. They could have just been conferring and agreeing with each other that it was ok for you. I hope this is soon over for you sweetheart. I am sure you will be ok. Take care. Xxx

It does with most results Y, Please don’t panic because if there was anything seriously wrong you would have heard by now. They don’t mess with the heart especially the hospital you went to. One of the top and best in the country. You are going to be ok. This is just a check up and you are being looked after. Xxxxx

Interesting are you having MRI done at Great Ormond Street because you originally came through them and also because you’re still very young?

Yumz199725 profile image
Yumz199725 in reply to Deejay62

Yeah it's because I'm under the adult hospital that partnerd up with great Ormond Street, I agree it's very interesting I think it's because of the congenital heart disease that I have my MRI done there, they do actually have MRI machines at St barts but I've never had one there. 😅🤷‍♀️.

I fell at work 4 years ago and dislocated my shoulder, and the London orthopaedic hospital wanted me to have an mri. They contacted Bart’s but they said they couldn’t do it. I don’t know if it was because they didn’t have anyone to switch my device off or if they didn’t think it would be worth switching it off or if it couldn’t be switched off. My device at the time was fitted a year before. I ended up having a ct scan.😊

Yumz199725 in reply to Deejay62

Sorry to hear about the fall hope you don't have any lasting damage?? That's odd they couldn't even switch off your device for a simple MRI, glad you was able to have CT scan x

My shoulder is completely damaged even my fingers and I’m right handed. I usually say to medics I feel like a hot mess. A phrase my kids always use😆. There’s so much going on. I’ve noticed a lot of us have a lot of things going on along with our heart issues. We soldier on. All the best.

Ahh you do so well to cope with so much. But I definitely get what you mean it's not just heart issues we have to deal with, I also have asthma which is put me in hospital about 3 times in my life most recent was 4 years ago. We definitely do our best to carry on! Take care and all the best x

Hi Deejay. I’ve got a brain tumour, so between that, my heart, and my rubbish gums, I’ve become very well acquainted with every hospital in south London!!

Hi Alison I’m so sorry to hear you’re fighting all those conditions. I hope those hospitals are all treating you well and making sure you get the best care. You take care of yourself. All the best xx

I think I’m the reason for long waiting lists - I’m single-handedly bankrupting the NHS!! 😂😂

Yes Yumz199725 everything seems to be a long wait time now. I have just had to ask to transfer my holiday which is on the 28th September to next year. Hopefully I can . I have been told my test for pressure wire will not be till September.

I would contact hospital to fine out who to contact re your MRI. I did this for mine and was given a date for the next week. Good luck

You're not being impatient. - it's natural to want to know what's going on. I find we have to advocate for ourselves these days. 🌺

Hi Yumz, you are perfectly entitled to chase up your appointments and you may actually be helping by taking a cancellation and keeping the machines busy 😀.

I had a dental appointment cancelled during Covid: “don’t call us, we’ll call you”. So I didn’t. Well, they never did call back and then told me I’d been deregistered because I’d not had a check-up for 2 years 🙄. So don’t be thinking it’s rude to ask 😀.

It’s worrying when there’s muttering over a scan, but very often the people doing the scan are not allowed to say what they have seen, their report has to go to your specialist who interprets it in the context of everything else. Sometimes it’s just “I’ve never seen one of these before” - a bit of on the job training.

It’s probably better that way because otherwise you could be worried unnecessarily about something observed but not significant for you but it does mean the wait is longer to know what’s what and the imagination can run away with it a bit. I’m sure that if there was something needing urgent attention, it would get flagged up.

Take care 🤗.
