Swelling & numbness following bypass

October 19 had an emergency double bypass. Some days Left leg which had vein harvested is still giving me problems.

Slight swelling at ankle, swelling above knee and on some days (random) throbbing above knee.

Had scans and been told now by consultant that no problems were found, eg. Clots or varicose veins.

Anyone experienced this or have any light to throw on the matter?

I have swelling if I sit all day and not very active. It helps if I keep mobile to get the heart working.

am quite active and do exercise classes, which hasn’t made any difference. Also tried support stockings and not noticed any change either 🥲

It scared me when I noticed the swelling and hard to when doctors didn't really know.For me it took some time to normalise but what else made a difference was cutting down on sweet and carbs. Sleeping with my feet up also help with the swelling. I used to get numb right foot if I had too much sugar and carbs and swelling too and cutting down really helped me. Not quiet diabetic doctors said but was pre-diabetic.

I’m only 13 months post, I don’t get any swelling but my leg still feels really numb and gets pins and needles every day. I knew they were using one of the veins out of my left leg but as I had a quad cabg they took it all the way up in to my groin. If I’d of known it was going to be keyhole I would have said no I want you to harvest by opening my leg up fully, keyhole is so aggressive it can easily damage other things. I’ve had some before and that also caused problems.
