Hello everyone, Amy here! Thanks for all the responses last week. Thought I would let you know, we raised £1.4million from the London to Brighton bike ride in June! Link here: bhf.org.uk/what-we-do/news-...

An absolutely fantastic achievement from so many supporters, raising money for research that give us so much hope. With a heavy heart I'd also like to acknowledge David Cooper who passed away during the event, after riding for 24 years with us. My thoughts are still with his family.

I hope you all have a lovely week, take care!

Amy from BHF

RIP David. Has been a Father's Day event for me for most of the past 20 years. Had to cancel this year due to the unexpected aortic valve surgery in April.Cardiologist said that as I had zero symptoms, if I hadn't had a routine health check in February, likely outcome would have been a sudden event.

I've bored as many friends of my age (65 plus) as I can with the "Get yourself a routine check" mantra 😕

Hi hope your all keeping well nice hot day today. So I went to the gym I weighed myself I'm 10stone 6 it's the heaviest I've ever been in my life! I did 20 minutes on exercise bike I got up to level 11! That's a first for me so was so happy heart rate was at good steady pace at 150 but averaged around 130 something, then I did 20 on the treadmill which was great aswell got up to 5 on the speed and 4 on the incline which is my personal best. I want to loose 6 pound and be around 10 stone which is good for my height and weight I think so don't wanna go any higher. Any suggestions on how to loose the weight.??

Tos92 profile image
Tos92 in reply toYumz199725

I’m verging on the same weight as you, and something tells me I’m shorter than you as well. If you get any good tips on losing weight, please do share.

I might give intermittent fasting a go and see if that helps. Have you tried that before? X

Yumz199725 profile image
Yumz199725 in reply toTos92

Aw ok how tall are you I'm 5ft 7 and a half??. I'm gona cut my portion sizes down and go to the gym more. I don't think I will try intermittent fasting, I want to keep a balanced diet I only wanna loose 6 pound 😅 which I have a feeling its gona be hard! X

Tos92 profile image
Tos92 in reply toYumz199725

I’m petite, so need to lose a stone at the minimum. Like you, it’s the heaviest I’ve been my entire life. I’ve always been the slimmest in my family, I never thought it was possible to gain as much as I have tbh 🤣. It’s possible to lose 1-2 pounds per week just through cutting down your portions, or stopping snacking for example if that’s something that you do.

Also, look at what time you’re eating. A late dinner is more likely to increase weight gain, as opposed to having an early dinner. I’m no dietician or weight loosing specialist by any means, so do take what I say with a pinch of salt and speak with your doctor to make sure any changes to your diet are suitable for you x

Yumz199725 in reply toTos92

Aw I used to be the same this is the heaviest I have been although I lost about 3 stone nearly 4 when I was ill so taken about 4 years to get back to a healthy weight. I used to be the slimmest in my family but I guess had to end some time 😂😅. I definitely snack can't help I just crave salt all the time I'm addicted to crisps. I did have a small dinner though so probably why Im so hungry. I think I'm finally at a healthy weight any higher and I won't be 🤣. X

You're doing really well with your exercise regime Yumz - you should be patting yourself on the back! I remember someone suggesting to one of my chums, who was always on various diets, to use a smaller plate as it would look fuller and fool her into thinking she'd eaten more.

Yumz199725 profile image
Yumz199725 in reply toCee-Cee1

That's a great idea! And thanks hun that's so sweet x I have bought some very healthy dinners and spent less aswell so happy 😅😁. Hope your keeping well 😘

Cee-Cee1 profile image
Cee-Cee1 in reply toYumz199725

I'm keeping grand, Yumz - except you're making me feel lazy with all that exercise you're doing! 😂😆

Yumz199725 profile image
Yumz199725 in reply toCee-Cee1

Aw glad you doing well. Hahha aw x did a load more today walking sooo much so tired and so hungry I was shaking I was sweating so much but my chest felt cold and sweaty 😅 so weird x

Cee-Cee1 profile image
Cee-Cee1 in reply toYumz199725

I'm glad you're getting all that exercise in Yumz, but be careful not to do too much either! I'd two walks today which I very much enjoyed as the weather's been sunny but there's a nice breeze cooling it down too.😀👍

Turnipgirl profile image
Turnipgirl in reply toCee-Cee1

That's it though too much exercise is worse than not doing enough if you aren't careful!

Today I have been swimming and for a walk as well.

Cee-Cee1 profile image
Cee-Cee1 in reply toTurnipgirl

I can just about manage a breadth of the swimming pool, Turnipgirl 😂 I'd love to be able to swim properly, I'm so envious of those people gliding along the lengths of the pool! 😊

Don’t forget that muscle weighs more than fat so if you are upping your exercise regime then this may also play a part.

My understanding is you can weigh differently at different times of the day too so try and keep to roughly the same time window each day too? Water can also add weight if you’ve been upping your intake due to the heat?

Also if you are happy to switch from white to brown bread (if you haven’t already)?

Good luck, hope you get the results you’re aiming for.

Best wishes

Yumz199725 profile image
Yumz199725

Yeah it's my antidepressants that I take but atleast I feel better I go to the gym and I will be doing exercises to tone my belly on days I'm not at the gym 😅. Yeah definitely gona try smaller portions! Yeah so hot today in it I'm round my mum and dad's chilling in the garden 😊. X urgjh it's always the way in it with this weather lol hot one day and raining the next lol.

Yumz199725 profile image
Yumz199725

Yeah true hun definitely explains the weight gain maybe hot weather isn't helping I don't know. I can't help it I don't wanna get any heavier I have an ideal BMI apparently so that makes me feel better 😅. Aw hopefully you didn't get too baked! Yeah we had burgers and hotdogs was yummy! 😋X

I was given a tip for responding to passive aggressive comments - say “are you trying to be helpful or hurtful?” I found it helpful so thought I would share.

Also, in my face to face interactions, if someone is ever rude to me I pause whilst looking them in the eyes, and then I ask (with genuine inquisitiveness) “are you okay?”

You’ll be surprised the number of times I’ve seen a weight or cloud lift from a person’s shoulders and they then share what’s bothering them. Granted it’s not very effective online that one 😂

Do you know if Andy is OK, Be-Kind? Only I haven't seen him post for a while. I miss his jokes too!

Hope you are doing OK.

I've finally had my MRI (but no results yet) and got a 2nd appointment with Cardiologist in the diary.

It was set for Sept, then cancelled and moved to December, now it's been cancelled again and moved back to September.

Am not very good at looking after me - but have finally decided to post a letter into the GP on Mon as I've lots of other health issues going on too at the mo - that might help to get them covered in a ten min appointment if I can get one. 😀

😀

Hey guys hope you all having a great day. Just got back from the gym 💪🏻😎. I burnt 108 calories on the bike and I got up to level 13! Was well happy! Average heart rate was good 129. Then I burnt another 140 on the treadmill managed 25 minutes today, incline was upto 5.0 and so was the level I've realised thats enough for me any higher and it's too much! Good thing I know my limits 😅. Gona have a nice healthy dinner aswell so determined to loose this weight 🤪😅.Have a great evening!. X
