To be honest, the receptionists and the Nurse Consultant at my surgery are more help than the doctors.

hi. I thought it was really funny!! The receptionists at our practice are a bit hit and miss. I rang up a couple of days ago to get the results of some genetic testing that I’d had done and was told it was all clear. I confirmed with her several times that it was the genetic test. I promptly told my kids the results and told them not to worry. I then went to the doctors yesterday for something unrelated and was told that the genetic testing results weren’t back yet and that the receptionist had given me my lft results instead. I’m not going to complain but feel that some of the receptionists have been given more responsibility than they should. Anyway I laughed at your post as it struck a chord with me.

hi. The testing was for haemochromatosis as my iron levels have gone off the scale. My mum had it and my sister has it, it’s a hereditary condition. It can cause heart damage but mine was originally caused by rheumatic fever. Probably not the same genetic testing that you had. X

😀Thank you, Michael - this definitely raised a smile! Have to say though, I've now met, and come to know, the receptionists at our surgery (I was a very rare visitor before the bypass). I've found that they're all lovely and I made sure to pop in at Christmas to bring them a gigantic box of choccies with a big Thank You card for helping me along! Carol

The receptionists are fine at my GP practice.... but it still doesn't mean I can get to see a GP. I usually write a letter... they can't ignore that. 😀
